Thailand Can Tourists, Backpackers, and Snowbirds Visit In 2020

Thailand has long been a favorite destination for travelers from around the world. Its rich culture, stunning beaches, mouthwatering cuisine, and affordable prices make it an attractive choice for tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds alike. But with recent events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, travelers are now wondering if visiting Thailand in 2020 is still a possibility.
COVID-19 Travel Restrictions
Due to the global pandemic, Thailand has implemented a series of travel restrictions to ensure the safety of its citizens and visitors. These restrictions, although necessary, have greatly affected the tourism industry in the country. However, as of [current date], Thailand has started reopening its borders to certain categories of travelers, including tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds.
Requirements for Entry
In order to visit Thailand in 2020, tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds are required to adhere to certain entry requirements. These requirements may vary depending on the traveler's country of origin and medical status.

COVID-19 Testing
Thailand requires all visitors to obtain a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours prior to their departure. This test must be an RT-PCR test, and the result should be presented upon arrival in Thailand.
Health Insurance
Additionally, travelers must have a valid health insurance policy that covers COVID-19 treatment for the duration of their stay in Thailand. This is to ensure that visitors have access to necessary healthcare services in case they contract the virus during their visit.
Certificate of Entry
Before arriving in Thailand, tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds must obtain a Certificate of Entry (COE) from the Thai embassy or consulate in their home country. The COE confirms that the traveler meets all the entry requirements and has a valid reason for entering Thailand.
Quarantine and Monitoring
Upon arrival in Thailand, all visitors are required to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated facilities. The cost of the quarantine is to be borne by the traveler. During the quarantine period, individuals are monitored for symptoms and are tested for COVID-19 multiple times to ensure the safety of the community.
Safe Tourism Measures
Thailand has implemented several safety measures to protect the health and well-being of tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds. These measures include strict adherence to social distancing guidelines, regular disinfection of public areas, mandatory mask-wearing in public spaces, and frequent hand sanitization stations.
What to Expect in Thailand
Although the pandemic has undoubtedly impacted the tourism industry, Thailand still offers a plethora of attractions and experiences for visitors. From exploring the vibrant streets of Bangkok to relaxing on the pristine beaches of Phuket, there is something for everyone in this beautiful country.
However, it is important to note that not all tourist attractions or businesses may be open or operating at full capacity. It is advisable to check with local authorities or travel agencies for the most up-to-date information regarding the availability of attractions, accommodations, and services.
While the world grapples with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand remains open to tourists, backpackers, and snowbirds who are willing to adhere to the necessary entry requirements and safety measures. With its unique charm, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality, Thailand continues to be a top destination for those seeking an unforgettable travel experience.

Updated July 24th: Tourism has been destroyed in Thailand due to the Covid-19 outbreak. This short book describes how the Thai government has fought against the pandemic, and explains what the Tourism Authority of Thailand believes will unfold during the latter part of the year. Government officials have indicated their draft plans and while they are subject to change I have included the draft plans in the book. It is a certainty, though, that tourism will not return to normal this year.
With specific advice for backpackers, tourists and snowbirds ( those people who winter in Thailand every year ),its essential reading to catch up with the prospects of Thailand reopening to tourism in 2020. My primary concern is to ensure that people don't make expensive mistakes as new regulations will be imposed on international visitors. This book is a must read for everyone planning a trip to Thailand this year, especially those that have been to the Kingdom before.
There are already reports of people being refused entry at Suvarnabhumi ( Bangkok ) airport, with some being stuck air-side for weeks, unable to enter Thailand, and unable to fly home. What you knew before does not apply now, download this book and avoid making a costly and vacation destroying mistake.
